Guys what are we gonna do if Cooper is a dick?
Cheer for all the blangst.
I’ll be so torn between all my emotions that I’ll probably have a stroke.
#oh my god positive thinking Blaine is so CUTE
He’s my baby :D I should make a foil and it be Negative Thinking Kurt lol
But back on the topic of Cooper. The more I consider it, the more and more I shamelessly want him to be an oblivious well-meaning dick. Like he some how missed if Blaine worshipped him or whatever when they were younger and completely misses and unintentionally reinforces the unsaid comparisons between the two of them and their lifestyles.
The episode would go as follows.
- “Cooper! Coop! This is my boyfriend Kurt.” “Uhh. Hey… Kirk, nice to meet you. Blaine’s told us so much about you.” “It’s Kurt.” “Right.”
- *Insert some fluffy times here, maybe a slightly tragic scene heavily implying that Blaine falls short of expectations of their parents but still a fond brotherly memory for the two of them regardless*
- Mentioning something about Blaine’s plans after Kurt graduates. Blaine not having any real plans beyond moving to NY with Kurt. Cooper compares his own experiences with Blaine’s plans (or lack thereof)
- Cue blangst
Oh my God do it
Also yes good very good. But bonus points if Kurt helps Cooper realize how much his comments are hurting Blaine even if he won’t admit it. Then maybe Coop and Blainers have a nice conversation and make up. Or maybe Cooper’s just a dick and tells Kurt to fuck off and makes Blaine cry or something.
Ugh I’m so torn WHY CAN’T I JUST HAVE IT ALL
#Also I doubt he’s a dick if they sing together
Which is why he’s an oblivious well-meaning dick. He’s not intentionally belittling Blaine in anyway, the comparisons are simply second-nature for the Anderson family - a competitive way to encourage them to do their best.
And I don’t think they’ll have Blaine confront his brother - they’re setting up fun times with Duran Duran. I’m wary if there will be open conflict at all. The writers have also been surprisingly slow to have Kurt come to Blaine’s defense, even in Michael. Kurt hasn’t defended Blaine against the accusations usurpation and treason from within ND. What commentary we have seen related to the state of Klaine have been Kurt’s confrontations with Sebastian… and those weren’t defensive of Blaine’s decision to join him at McKinley but rather they’ve been (understandably) possessive of Blaine.
This is my head!canon obviously, but Cooper may very well be just as much of a adorkable singing goober as Blaine is… possibly how Blaine got into performing in the first place… but their lives have gone different paths. It’s all too easy to see Blaine’s character falling into hero-worship of a sibling considering the near idol-worship he’s devoted to Kurt in S3. Cooper may abandoned that hobby after highschool or whatever and reserves it for bro moments with Blaine - Blaine on the other hand has shown no signs of what he wants to do with his life besides Kurt (lol innuendo)… however by virtue of the fact he’s already given up the prestigious halls of Dalton to go to public school for his high school sweetheart is a fairly good indication of further divergence from a planned future.
We just have no idea what Blaine’s family life is like short of he has a presumably unaccepting father, major emotional insecurities he masks with confidence, they’re well-off enough to send at least 1 child to Dalton, and he’s materially provided for through hundred dollar cardigans.
But again, personal head!canon… colored by my own (scarily similar as more and more is revealed about B’s) upbringing.
